Day 1: Fly to Johannesburg

Start your South African adventure with an overnight flight to Johannesburg from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) or Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD).


Day 2: Arrive in Johannesburg

On arrival you'll be met by an Indus Travels representative and escorted to your hotel, the Peermont Mondior. You'll have the rest of the day to explore Johannesburg at your leisure.

Day 3: Soweto and Mpumalanga

This morning you'll take a tour of Soweto, a bustling township that is home to 2 million people. Despite the often chaotic and crowded conditions, there's a tangible sense of community, and this exploration offers a fascinating insight into life in Johannesburg's southwestern suburb. You'll drive past the Hector Pieterson Museum and Mandela House before traveling to the Mpumalanga region. Continue on through Graskop to Hazyview, just outside Kruger National Park.

Day 4: Kruger National Park

Spend the day spotting the Big Five (lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhino) on a game drive through Kruger National Park. Make sure your camera is fully charged, as the park is home to 147 mammal species and over 500 different kinds of bird. There's an option to upgrade to an open vehicle safari tour for an additional $75 per person.

Day 5: Johannesburg to Cape Town

This morning you'll head back to Johannesburg for a flight to Cape Town. On arrival you'll be transferred to the Spier Hotel in the wine region of Stellenbosch. Enjoy the remainder of the day at your leisure. In the evening you'll enjoy dinner at the hotel, located on one of the oldest vineyards in the region.

Day 6: South Africa's Winelands

Spend your day relaxing at the hotel: take a dip in the pool, explore the lush grounds or indulge in a treatment at the spa. There's an optional half-day winelands tour for an additional $50 per person that includes a cellar tour and tasting and a drive through Stellenbosch to explore its Cape Dutch architecture, art galleries and quaint shops.

Day 7: Explore Cape Town

After breakfast you'll head to Cape Town for a half-day orientation tour of the city. Take an optional cable car ride up to the summit of Table Mountain for spectacular views of the southernmost tip of Africa. You'll drive past the Castle (the country's oldest building), city hall, the parliament buildings, and the Slave Lodge before moving on to navigate the cobblestone hills in the Malay Quarter. Return to the hotel or continue the tour with an optional trip to Robben Island for an extra $50 per person.

Day 8: A Leisurely Day in Cape Town

Today you can explore Cape Town at your leisure or join an optional full-day peninsula tour.
