What is Looah?

Looah is a community of people who believe the world would be more peaceful and harmonious if we learned about other cultures and made friends.

What can I do here?

  • Posting an article - you can either post blog, photo or import tweets from Twitter for translation.
  • Translation - when you find an article that you think it is worth sharing with the world, you can translate the article.
  • Proofreading - you find any error such as missing words or improper usage you can edit the article to make it better. And you can also:
  • Find and read stories about particular subject which were written by people from other countries or cultures.
  • Follow popular tweet or blog in other languages.
  • Follow other Looah user to connect and expand your circle of friends worldwide.

How is Looah's article different from other social media sites?

Articles you read in Looah is written by people who live in different region of the globe in their native languages and translated into your language by users.


Post for Translation

When do I Post for translation?

  • If you are a blogger and would like to share your contents with other people around the world, you can post for translation.
  • If you find a content that you believe it is worth spreading, you can post for translation.
  • If you have an article that you want to translate yourself, it is a way to register your contents to Looah.

I want to post an article, how do I do that?

Move your mouse to the top right corner 'Post for translation' and choose the media type you want to post. Post an article using the editor.

What can I post?

You can post any article (e.g Blog, Twitter) as long as it meets our Terms of Use. (Simple guide line- In other words you can not call each other nincompoops or other nasty words)

Can I post an article which I didn't create myself?

You have to check first if the article is created under an open source license or creative common license. If they are not one of these copyright free document, you can still send an email to the author or copyright holder of the contentasking for permission. When they grant you permission, you can freely copy text and images from the original article and post.

What is connected blog?

These are popular blogs from different countries that gave Looah users permission to use their blog for translation.

How do I add an image to my blog post?

To add image to your article, click the 'Upload photo' button at the top of the editor to upload a file from your computer. You can also copy and paste an image URL from the web. (To find the Image URL, right-mouse-click on an image, choose Properties, and copy the Image Address.) or import image from Flicker website.

What are tags?

Tags are keywords that you can use to describe your article. Please be sure to separate each keyword with comma. (e.g Sushi, Paris, Chair Etc.)


Translation

What language can I translate?

We will support a translation from one language to other language in the future. But for now, we support translations from Chinese, French, Japanese, Korean, Spanish to English and vice versa only. Because English is most widely used in the world and we believe it can be used as bridge-language.

Can I edit someone else’s translation?

Yes! If you have a better suggestion for the translation, you can just click the 'edit translation' and edit it. Your translation will be saved as your own version.


User

Do I have to log in or create an account to use Looah?

If you only want to read articles and have a fun time, you can still do without an Looah account. But if you want to write something on the site (post article, submit translation, leave a comment Etc.) you have to let us know who you are.

How do I sign up for Looah?

It's as simple as one-two-three:

  • From our homepage, click on the "Register" link at the top of the page.
  • You'll be taken to the User registration page. Complete the short formon this page.
    • User name - This will be your user name on the Looah site. User name should be up to 15 alphanumeric characters.
    • Email Address - This will be the email address we use to contact you regarding important updates, etc. We will not share your email address with anyone. See our Privacy Policy
    • Password - Between 6 to 20 alphanumeric characters.
  • Click the "Register" button

How do I Log in to my Looah account?

Click the "Log In" link at the top of any Looah.com page.

What should I do if I can't remember my password?

You will see a 'forgot password?' link under the login box. Click and follow the instruction and we will send you a new password.


Profile

How do I update my profile?

  • Log in to your Looah account.
  • Click your user name at the top of the page.
  • From your user home page, click on the "Edit" button on the top right corner.
  • When you have made your desired edits, click "Save changes" to save.

Article

What is following article?

When you find an article that you like and want to see updates, you can follow it by clicking the "follow" button on the article page.(You must be logged in to follow.)

You can view your following articles on your profile page.

What is activity?

This shows people who contributed to the article . (e.g Original author, person who translated the article or posted a comment Etc.)

Can I delete an article?

If you want to delete an article that you have posted, go to your profile page. If the article is not yet translated, you will see the 'Delete' button on your activity list.
